COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Advisory – updated 24.03.2020

In reaction to the new measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus announced by the government today, the Irish Amateur Wrestling Association are extending the cancellation of events and curtailment of all courses and programmes until the end of April.

Can you please share across your own club with advice that these should replace previously issued posters.

These new measures include instructions to:

  • All theatres, clubs, gyms, hairdressers, bookies, marts and markets to close
  • All sporting events even behind closed doors cancelled.
  • ”Non-essential" businesses are set to be closed
  • Outdoor gatherings to be restricted to a maximum of four people
  • People should not use public transport unless absolutely necessary
  • Gardaí will intervene if people are not following advice or guidelines
  • Public amenities such as playgrounds should close
  • All non-essential visits to other people's homes should not take place

With regard to this we would now advise all members cease any group wrestling/training activity and stay in their homes, until government guidelines change. This is for all our safety.

Clubs are still recommended to suspend all activity and encourage their members to do the same.

These new guidelines are in response to the increased threat this virus is posing to our country, we’re all in this together and we can all play our part. Continue to strictly follow hygiene guidelines around handwashing, coughing, and cleaning surfaces, adhere to social distancing guidelines, and whenever possible remain in your homes.

We’ll continue to do our best to keep you fit, healthy and entertained while you continue to stay indoors. Stay safe
